Mirka 9133 | 3" Abranet Velcro Interface Pad • 3/16" tall<br/><br/>The Mirka 9133 3" Abranet Interface Pad is designed to to be used with Abranet and Autonet sanding discs. The open mesh design employed in Abranet and Autonet products allow the backing plate's Velcro-style hooks to protrude through the mesh. If this occurs, the hooks can degrade quickly, AND cause marring of the surface being sanded!<br/><br/>Avoid problems by installing this interface pad (or the Mirka 9947 Pad Protector). Specialized hooks eliminate the potential for damage to the surface being sanded, and efficiently grab ahold of Abranet and Autonet Net Mesh Discs.<br/><br/>Mirka 9133 | 1033 | 9947 | 3" Velcro Interface Pads<br/><br/>This trio of Mirka 3" Interface Pads can improve the performance of any Velcro-backed sanding disc. The Mirka 1033 and 9133 include a cushiony foam interlayer (sandwiched between layers of hook and loop Velcro), which helps sanding discs to readily conform to complex surfaces. They also help to compensate for inadvertent tilting of the machine during sanding.<br/><br/>The Mirka 9133 and 9947 were originally designed for use with Mirka Abranet and Autonet Sanding Discs, but can be used with other types of disc as well.<br/><br/>Mirka 9947 | 3" Abranet Pad Protector • 1/16" tall<br/><br/>The Mirka 9947 3" Abranet Pad Protector is designed to to be used with Abranet and Autonet sanding discs. The open mesh design employed in Abranet and Autonet products allow the backing plate's Velcro-style hooks to protrude through the mesh. If this occurs, the hooks can degrade quickly, AND cause marring of the surface being sanded!<br/><br/>Avoid this problem by installing a Pad Protector. This simple device will not only protect the backing plate and surface being sanded, it also increases adhesion of the sanding disc to the backing plate.<br/><br/>Mirka 1033 | 3" Velcro Interface Pad • 1/2" tall<br/><br/>The Mirka 1033 3" Velcro Interface Pad utilizes low-profile micro hooks, which strongly secure sanding discs into place (even during heavy friction, high RPM sanding).<br/><br/>When sanding using thin or flimsy sanding discs, short hooks ensure a flat and consistent cut, and lessen the potential for "hook marking" of the sanding surface.<br/><br/> Matched low-profile Velcro loops keep the interface pad tightly attached to the backing plate, which minimizes friction-induced heat caused by rapid & repeated shifting of the hooks and loops.<br/><br/>1033 | 1066 | 1066F | 1066SF<br/> Mirka Velcro Interface Pads<br/><br/>When a sanding disc is mounted directly onto a backing plate, its ability to contour is limited by plate rigidity. Although leveling capability might increase, edge-digging is likely to occur. Full-width utiliztion of the disc becomes difficult when sanding complex surfaces. When an interface pad is installed between the backing plate and disc, contourability increases.<br/><br/>If the machine is tilted off-kilter, the interface pad aids in keeping the full width of the disc in complete contact with the sanding surface. Interface pads enable sanding discs to conform to their maximum ability.They also assist in distributing machine weight, and user-applied pressure.<br/><br/>An interface pad can decrease uncontrolled wandering of the machine, which occurs when a disc cannot conform to the surface being sanded (due to backing plate rigidity). The open mesh design employed in Abranet and Autonet products may allow the hook material of a backing plate to protrude through the mesh. If this occurs, the backing plate hooks will degrade quickly. Even worse, the hook material can cause surface marring! Avoid this problem by installing this Interface Pad. Also available in a 6" version: 9166

The Mirka 9133 Abranet Interface Pad protects the backing plate and sanding surface, all the while increasing adhesion of sanding discs to the backing plate. A soft and pliable foam interlayer (3/16" tall) allows an attached disc to flex and conform to curved or complex shapes. Using a vacuum system for ultra-clean sanding? Three vacuum holes ensure a thorough cleaning of the sanding surface when using net mesh discs.

Add a Dome-Style Hand Sanding Pad. This uniquely shaped block makes sanding by hand a breeze to accomplish. Its yellow cushiony material is soft, making it easy to grasp, even when wet. The Velcro face is molded into place (not glued), so pad failure is  unlikely. A soft interface pad is included (interface is not a Mirka product).

Add a Pad Protector. No need for cushioning? Check out the Mirka Pad Protector. This simple device will not only protect the backing plate and surface being sanded, it also increases adhesion of the sanding disc to the backing plate. Since the Pad Protector is only about 1/16" thick, in most cases it will not affect the leveling capability of the disc.
