The interface will improve contourability when sanding curved or complex panels, and will also help to distribute unevenly applied pressure across the face of the sanding disc.

990.014 | Rupes 3" Velcro Interface Pad.

Sanding on curved surfaces? Rupes Foam Interface Pads are available in two heights (1/4" and 1/2"), and three diameters (3", 5", 6"). They feature an outstanding micro hook & loop attachment material, making them compatible with all Velcro-style sanding discs. This includes the latest generation of ultra-thin discs offered by just about every sanding disc manufacturer.

Technology-wise, the center foam interlayer is why Rupes Foam Interface Pads are superior to all other interface pads. The foam is not overly spongy or twisty: In the event that the interface pad becomes saturated with water in the midst of a sanding session... it will not flatten to the height of a nickel!

Why use an interface pad?
Interface pads are placed between the backing plate and sanding disc to increase the flexibility & contourability of almost any sanding disc. Interface pads can also help to evenly distribute machine movement and user-applied pressure. They can also increase user comfort during sanding. Interface pads work equally well when sanding curvy and flat surfaces.

Two heights are available.
Working with an orbital or dual-action machine featuring a small stroke? The 1/4-inch tall interface might be the best choice, as its short foam interlayer will minimally or have no effect on machine motion. Otherwise, the 1/2-inch tall interface delivers fantastic results with pretty much any machine it is paired with.
